The Colorado Rockies have signed veteran starter Kip Wells to a 1-year contract. Wells pitched in 34 games (26 starts) last season for the Cardinals and he was 7-17 with a 5.70 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP. Wells has now pitched in 231 games (203 starts) and he has a 64-91 record with a 4.63 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. Maybe the Rockies will wave their magic wand and Wells will turn his above average stuff into good results…but it’s a long shot.

Blogged under Front Page, Arrivals & Departures, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Friday 21 December 2007 at 5:36 pm

The Rockies have re-signed lefty starter Mark Redman to a 1-year, $1 million dollar contract. He will compete for the #5 starter job on the Rockies and he pitched well for them last season. Redman pitched in 11 games (8 starts) last season for the Braves & Rockies and he was 2-4 with a 7.44 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP. Redman has now pitched in 209 games (194 starts) in his major league career and he is 66-80 with a 4.75 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Redman should have a good shot in Spring Training to win a job in the rotation.
