Todd Helton is back for the Colorado Rockies

36-year old lefty swinging 1B Todd Helton has had a really solid year for the Rockies. He has played in 147 games this season for the Rockies and he is 170 for 527 (.323 avg, .897 OPS) with 73 runs scored, 14 homers and 84 RBIs. Maybe his back issues of the past is why his homers are starting to turn into doubles as he has 37 of them this season. The Rockies will be depending on Helton to not only get the Rockies into the playoffs but to help them win when they get there.

Dexter Fowler is having a good rookie year for the Colorado Rockies

23-year old switch hitting CF Dexter Fowler came into this season as the Rockies’ #1 prospect according to Baseball America and he’s showing why so far this year. Fowler has played in 128 games for the Rockies this season and he is 111 for 411 (.270 avg, .780 OPS) with 69 runs scored, 4 homers, 33 RBIs and 27 stolen bases. Fowler has a bright future for the Rockies as he brings much needed speed on both the basepaths and in the outfield.

Troy Tulowitzki is carrying the Colorado Rockies

24-year old righty swinging shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is driving the Rockies to the playoffs. He has played in 140 games this season for the Rockies and he is 144 for 499 (.289 avg, .912 OPS) with 91 runs scored, 29 homers, 81 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Tulo leads the Rockies in runs scored, homers and RBIs while playing a very solid shortstop in the field. He has definately been the MVP of the Rockies this season.

Rafael Betancourt has been nasty for the Colorado Rockies

34-year old righty reliever Rafael Betancourt has been nasty since coming over in a trade with the Cleveland Indians. He has pitched in 27 games out of the pen for the Rockies and he is 3-1 with 1 save, a 1.77 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP. He has only allowed 13 hits in 20 1/3 innings for the Rockies while whiffing 22 batters showing just how nasty his stuff has been. Betancourt will have a key role late in games down the stretch for the Rockies who are trying to sew up the Wild Card.

Franklin Morales is stepping up for the Colorado Rockies

23-year old lefty Franklin Morales is doing a fine job filling in for the injured Huston Street as the Rockies’ closer. Morales has pitched in 32 games (2 starts) for the Rockies this season and he is 3-1 with 6 saves, a 2.75 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. Morales has whiffed 36 batters while only allowing 25 hits which shows how nasty his stuff can be. But he needs to tighten his control up a bit as he has walked 18 batters already this season. Despite Morales pitching so well out of the bullpen his future still likely lies in the Rockies’ rotation.
