25-year old lefty swinging outfielder Carlos Gonzalez had a rough time dealing with injuries this year and he has been shut down. He played in 127 games for the Rockies this year and he was 142 for 481 (.295 avg, .889 OPS) with 92 runs scored, 26 homers, 92 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Gonzalez has now played in 361 games in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 418 for 1,346 (.311 avg, .924 OPS) with 256 runs scored, 73 homers, 268 RBIs and 62 stolen bases. Gonzalez is going to be a force with the bat for the Rockies for a long, long time.

Matt Belisle has been rock solid for the Colorado Rockies in 2011

31-year old righty reliever Matt Belisle has been rock solid for the Rockies so far this year. He has pitched in 72 games (0 starts) for the Rockies this year and he is 10-4 with a 3.34 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Belisle has now pitched in 172 games (0 starts) in his first three years with the Rockies and he is 20-10 with 1 save, a 3.50 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. Belisle has really turned his career around with the Rockies and they hope he continues to give them good work out of the pen in the future.

He has played in 134 games for the Rockies so far this year and he is 124 of 435 (.285 avg, .842 OPS) with 62 runs scored, 15 homers, 57 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. Smith has now played in 474 games in his first five years in the majors and he is 343 of 1,244 (.276 avg, .837 OPS) with 195 runs scored, 51 homers, 179 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. The Rockies were smart to keep Seth Smith as a lot of teams were inquiring about him at the trade deadline.

Colorado Rockies’ catcher Eliezer Alfonzo gets suspended for 100 games

The Rockies have suspended 32-year old righty swinging catcher Eliezer Alfonzo for 100 games due to his second positive test for performance enhancing drugs. Alfonzo played in 25 games for the Rockies this year and he was 20 for 75 (.267 avg, .624 OPS) with 2 runs scored, 1 homer and 9 RBIs. He has now played in 193 games in his first six years in the majors and he is 142 of 591 (.240 avg, .648 OPS) with 44 runs scored, 17 homers, 67 RBIs and 1 stolen bases. This could be the end of Alfonzo’s major league career.

Rafael Betancourt turned in another good season for the Colorado Rockies
