The Colorado Rockies sign Brad Emaus to the Red Sox

The Rockies have sent 25-year old righty swinging 2B Brad Emaus to the Red Sox for either a player to be named later or cash. Emaus played in 45 games in AAA-ball for the Rockies last year and he was 51 of 163 (.313 avg, .954 OPS) with 37 runs scored, 9 homers, 28 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. The Rockies are not going to miss Emaus too much, if at all, in 2012.

The Rockies have signed 27-year old lefty swinging outfielder Brandon Roberts to a minor league deal. Roberts played in 74 games in rookie+AAA-ball last year for the Twins and he was 71 of 264 (.269 avg, .663 OPS) with 31 runs scored, 2 homers, 18 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. He has now played in 613 games in his first 7 years in the minors and he is 671 of 2,281 (.294 avg, .734 OPS) with 340 runs scored, 20 homers, 225 RBIs and 160 stolen bases. The Rockies will likely stash Roberts in AAA-ball in 2012.

The Rockies have signed 28-year old lefty swinging outfielder Leonard Davis to a minor league deal. Davis played in 88 games in Independent and AAA-ball last year and he was 99 of 352 (.281 avg, .798 OPS) with 59 runs scored, 11 homers, 51 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. He has now played in 776 games in his first 8 years in the minors and he is 751 of 2,773 (.271 avg, .798 OPS) with 386 runs scored, 110 homers, 386 RBIs and 62 stolen bases. The Rockies will likely stash Davis in AAA in 2012.

The Colorado Rockies sign Brendan Harris

The Rockies have signed 31-year old righty swinging infielder Brendan Harris to a minor league deal. Harris played in 136 games in AAA-ball for the Orioles last year and he was 116 of 516 (.225 avg, .613 OPS) with 50 runs scored, 10 homers, 50 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Harris last played in the majors back in 2010 with the Twins. He has played in 485 games in his first seven years in the majors and he is 412 of 1,587 (.260 avg, .701 OPS) with 194 runs scored, 29 homers, 158 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Harris will get a shot to win a bench job this spring with the Rockies.

The Colorado Rockies acquire Chad Tracy from the Rangers

The Rockies have acquired 26-year old righty swinging 1B/OF Chad Tracy from the Rangers for 26-year old righty starter/reliever Greg Reynolds. Tracy played in 134 games in AAA-ball last year for the Rangers and he was 136 of 526 (.259 avg, .814 OPS) with 80 runs scored, 26 homers, 109 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. He has now played in 679 games in his first six years in the minors and he is 704 of 2,619 (.269 avg, .806 OPS) with 388 runs scored, 111 homers, 472 RBIs and 31 stolen bases. Chad Tracy is Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy’s son. Greg Reynolds pitched in 13 games (3 starts) for the Rockies last year and he was 3-0 with a 6.19 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP. He pitched in 27 games (16 starts) in his two years with the Rockies and he was 5-8 with a 7.47 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP.
